The Reason

I know I've been awfully quiet lately. Life has thrown a few curve balls at me in recent weeks so I have been busy sorting through all that. Anyway, for your viewing and listening pleasure, here is one of my favorite songs of all time, The Reason by Hoobastank. This song came out in 2003, the year I graduated from college, moved to Michigan and married my husband.

I love, love, love the lyrics and the message of this song. It begins with an admission of imperfection and longing to be a better person and how that can affect the ones we love. All something I can relate to. The thing I love about this song, though, is what it says about the power of love, how it can move us to become that better person and strive to change. Enjoy...

  1. Wow! That was a serious song for your favorite. The video freaked me out.

Based on my iTune's Library, I have apparently chosen one of the following as my favorite: "I Will Always Love You," "Amazing Grace," "The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face," "House of the Rising Sun," "Landside," "Scarborough Fair," "Strangers in the Night," "The City of New Orleans'" "Summertime" or "The Rose." I have collected several versions of each of those.

Now that I'm putting some thought into the selection I will consider one of these: "Margaritaville," "The Man in My Little Girl's Life (Michael Duglass)," (Note: Just a few minutes ago, I teared up while listening to that one), "Me and Bobby McGee (Janis Joplin)," "Fever," "Whiskey Lullaby," "What's Up (4 Non Blondes)," "Time in a Bottle," ect.

Hell this is too hard. I don't seem to hava a favorite but a lot of songs I really like.

  2. The Reason is ONE of my favorite songs. I like music too much to have any one favorite song. My favorite changes with my mood.

I like your list, especially "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" and "What's Up." But as your daughter, I guess it is natural for me to like your music since I grew up listening to it (Simon and Garfunkel and Peter, Paul and Mary especially remind me of you).
